Meet MSF doctor Javid Abdelmoneim
From the Ebola epidemic to Syria, Ukraine and Gaza, for more than 15 years, Dr Javid Abdelmoneim has worked with Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in conflict zones, crises and disease outbreaks around the world.
He is an emergency medicine specialist, former NHS A+E doctor, and previous president of MSF UK.
Working with MSF had long been a dream for Javid Abdelmoneim.
Born and raised in the UK to Sudanese Iranian parents, Javid became involved with MSF in his second year of university as a medical student, volunteering with the Access Campaign to promote the accessibility of medicines for neglected diseases.
He has since worked with MSF on assignments in crisis zones across the planet.
“I feel immensely privileged to work with MSF," says Javid.
"Being there beside a person or community in their moment of need, being able to deliver healthcare in recognition of their dignity, it means a great deal to me.
"By doing so, I feel we express a powerful message of solidarity, which serves to remind us all of our shared humanity."
