In the episode, Javid discusses his time working as an A&E doctor in the NHS, and his career working with Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) since 2009.
The interview was recorded shortly after Javid returned from an MSF assignment to Ukraine in July 2022. There, Javid worked to support people affected by the conflict in places such as Kharkiv and Dnipro.
Javid also discusses his work in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake and the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone in 2014, both of which had a profound impact, inflicting a heavy psychological toll.
