University groups

There are over 30 Friends of MSF (FoMSF) groups in universities around the UK. Each is made up of student supporters, who campaign, fundraise and raise awareness about our work and global health issues.

Protest in South Africa
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) joined activists from around the world during the International AIDS Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to demand that Gilead make lenacapavir, a groundbreaking HIV prevention tool, accessible to everyone.

Lenacapavir is a lifesaving health innovation: with just two shots a year, it can prevent HIV. But Gilead, the company that manufactures the medication, is charging US$28,000 per year for a medicine that could cost as little as US$40 to produce.

More affordable generic versions are expected to become available as early as 2027. However, only selected manufacturers will be allowed to produce them, and their distribution will be limited to certain countries. Many others—including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Peru, which hosted the clinical trials for lenacapavir—have been completely excluded from this agreement.

Making lenacapavir accessible to everyone was MSF’s main demand at the International AIDS Conference. Two Shots. US$40.

A team of health promoters at one of the transit centres, in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi state. They are mapping locations to visit before they disperse to various communities to create awareness about Lassa fever. They aim to visit communities from which multiple Lassa fever patients originate. Mapping helps teams to plan daily activities and to determine which areas to visit.
