Yemen: Follow an MSF doctor at a busy humanitarian hospital
Follow doctor Ibrahim Isah Mohammed as he helps care for patients at Abs Hospital in Yemen – one of our largest projects worldwide.
Since 2015, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) teams have been supporting the hospital to treat people affected by the country’s brutal civil war.
Abs is the only hospital able to provide specialist treatment in a region of over a million people. With Yemen’s healthcare system close to collapse from the conflict and humanitarian needs still rising, the challenges faced by both our staff and patients are growing.
MSF in Yemen
Yemen is in the middle of a civil war. Indiscriminate bombings and chronic shortages of supplies and staff have led to the closure of many of Yemen's health facilities.
More than three million people have been displaced since the war started in 2015. With an estimated 24 million in need of humanitarian assistance, our activities in Yemen are among our most extensive worldwide.
