![Johnson Gailuak, 28-years-old, was displaced by the floods in Unity state. He now lives in Makuany in Rubkona, Unity state.
“When floods came it destroyed everything. We had to leave our house. Now we are suffering because we don’t have the essentials like plastic sheets, clean water, enough food.
“We use the canoe as a business to transport people, to do fishing which we use to feed our family. If you have an old canoe there are problems when you go inside the deep water. It will break and water will begin to make its way inside. If your canoe is not new then the chances of it breaking while carrying people is high.
“My wish for the future is that the water can go down so that people can go back to their homes, because now we’re all living in one place. We don’t have enough food and we are living in a hot place. If the water goes down we can go to where we were working before.
