Through the newly launched website, gazainsidethewar.com, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) extensively documents the total war waged by Israeli forces since October 2023, which has destroyed the very conditions of life in Gaza.

This platform brings together information and testimonies collected by MSF teams between 7 October 2023 and 1 February 2025. More specifically, it documents attacks on the health system and humanitarian workers that MSF teams witnessed and suffered.

On 18 March 2025, the Israeli authorities ended a two-month ceasefire by resuming their massive and indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip and imposing a full siege, killing hundreds of people in just a few weeks.

Inside the war

This interactive feature compiles information and testimonies collected by MSF teams

Israel’s war on Gaza has so far killed more than 51,000 Palestinians, wounded more than 116,000 and displaced approximately 90 percent of the population of Gaza.

The very conditions for life in Gaza have been destroyed through the dismantling of essential civilian infrastructure including healthcare facilities, as well as the siege and systematic denial of humanitarian assistance.

MSF's first-hand observations of the medical and humanitarian catastrophe inflicted on Gaza are consistent with descriptions of ethnic cleansing and genocide provided by an increasing number of legal experts and organisations.

Independent investigations must be conducted to determine the facts and responsibilities behind the repeated attacks on civilians and the medical mission.

Israeli authorities must end the siege on Gaza and open critical land borders, including the Rafah crossing, to ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid on a massive scale.

Forced displacement must end. People in Gaza must be allowed to move freely, including returning to their places of origin, and restore their ability to make a living.

Israeli authorities must facilitate the evacuation of those who need specialised care and the exit of those who seek refuge outside of Gaza, while ensuring their right to a safe, voluntary, and dignified return.

MSF calls on states, particularly Israel’s closest allies, to end their unconditional support for Israel and fulfil their obligation to prevent genocide in Gaza. States must leverage their influence to alleviate the suffering of the population and enable a massive scale-up of humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip.

MSF and the Israel - Gaza war

An unprecedented humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza. MSF teams have worked to treat the wounded and supply overwhelmed hospitals as indiscriminate airstrikes and a state of siege threaten millions of men, women and children.
