Tell your MP: This is not a ceasefire. This is genocide

Palestinians continue to face daily violence. The UK must do more.

One year since the so-called ceasefire came into effect in Gaza, the violence, destruction, and restriction of critical supplies hasn’t stopped. Instead, while the conflict may have lowered in intensity and governments have turned their attention elsewhere, the genocide continues.

Join us in calling the UK Government to:

  • Speak out when health care is under attack – including when health workers are detained by Israeli forces – calling for assurances that International Humanitarian Law is upheld and for accountability when it isn’t
  • Use every diplomatic and political lever to pressure Israel into lifting the restriction of supplies and personnel to Gaza and the West Bank, including desperately needed medical supplies and staff
  • Immediately resume medical evacuations of Palestinian patients at a scale which helps meet the massive current needs

"Every healthcare facility in Gaza is overwhelmed because of the Israeli restrictions on supply. We are short of even the most basic medicines and equipment such as gauze, and at any moment generators can break down because of the lack of engine oil and spare parts."

Fadi Husam, nursing team supervisor for Khan Younis emergency department

A year on from a peace deal that hasn't brought peace, a ceasefire that has not halted attacks and three years into a genocide, Palestinians are still living through daily attacks and the ongoing destruction of their health system.

On 23 September, Israeli forces targeted an area extremely close to our clinic in Khan Younis with a massive airstrike. MSF teams treated wounded patients in the aftermath, including a seven-year-old child who arrived with multiple shrapnel wounds caused by the force of the explosion.

Attacks like these have become the norm. We continue to see airstrikes across the Gaza Strip every day, and the Israeli forces continue their chokehold on Gaza's health systems. Not only do medics face ongoing attacks, they are also often forced to operate out of partially destroyed facilities without access to necessary supplies.

Throughout all of this, over 18,500 Palestinians await urgently needed medical evacuation to receive care that can't be provided in a system that has been systematically demolished over the last three years. This is unacceptable.

The new Government has made some important recent announcements on Palestine. But they have yet to take action on the destruction of healthcare and its consequences – despite pledging to do so months ago.
